Piscine Stupidity

Image
Despite my aspirations to the contrary, I don't have a memory as brief as a goldfish's. What is more, I possess an IQ higher than that of a goldfish. Because of these two factors, I did not vote for Trump in 2024 after witnessing the stunning incompetence,  corruption, and criminality surrounding him over the last decade. However, much to my chagrin, 2024 demonstrated that almost half of voting America possessed a piscine mind when it came to politics, and Trump was re-elected. Knowing what would soon be unleashed on this formerly great nation, I began chronicling these regressive days out of schadenfreude, if for no other reason. I knew payback was going to be a bitch, and I was looking forward to adapting William Tecumseh Sherman's civil war-era maxim: voters have chosen Trump as a remedy; let us give them all they can stand. Well, here we are, not even two full years into Trump's second term, and his voters are now rejecting the very remedy they have chosen: The Ir...

The Resistance is Winning

The last few posts of mine have been pretty bleak, I admit.  It is hard not to descend into despondency when you learn that your nation is no longer one of the good guys; that 49.8% of the population knowingly voted for the worst people possible because they thought it would line their pockets (what I have come to refer to as the Bondi Defense ).   But I have also come to realize something else: that an old Catholic admonition is correct when it warns that to despair is to sin because there is  always hope,  and hope does not disappoint.  The Trump regime, along with its allies of the moment, has proven to be a glass cannon.  Sure, they can lash out with the awesome power of the state, but such firepower is short-lived.  When met with sustained resistance, the cannon begins to crack and, ultimately, shatter. 😊😊😊😊😊 There have been many such cracks as of late, but perhaps the most noticeable has been the administration's abject defeat in...

Day 97: The Suckers Wise Up

Image
  >10 Print "I am a sucker" Things are not going well in Trump land. Like with any grift, eventually, the mark's patience wears thin and begins to demand results.  That is usually when the grift starts to crumble, forcing the conman to fall back from prevarication to prevarication until, ultimately, he is forced to take the money and run.  Such is the case with Trump. Have you seen Trump's recent polling? It is awful and reflects a wholesale rejection of the first one hundred days of this regime. When looking at these numbers, remember that this is supposed to be the "honeymoon" period for a new administration when the American people are most tolerant.  Here are some snapshots from today's New Zork Times : It's not often that an American president is described as "chaotic" and "scary," but these terms seem to apply to the Trump regime. (Only a MAGA jackass would call it "exciting".) But it gets worse. On an issue bre...
